How bad is a visual acuity of light perception on the visually impaired spectrum (self.Blind)
submitted by Opinion-Future
I only have light perception due to deteriorateing vision. How bad is LP on the spectrum?

Light perception was the stage at which I stopped caring about my sight, and the best vision I ever had was 10% acuity, which to me was pretty good as I lived a fairly normal life with it, but if you consider the numbers, it was actually pretty bad.

Humans with 100% acuity do see very well, assuming no other issues, and 100% is only an average. I think that the only species with a better acuity than humans' are birds.

Edited to add that 10% acuity is the top-end of the legal blindness spectrum in the US, for example.

So 10% is 20/200, just clarifying for my own self 😅 i I’ve never thought about acuity in percentages before so my brain went “wait what”
