Looking for an accessible coffee machine(self.Blind)
submitted by sebb_7
Hi all,
I'm looking for an accessible coffee machine with different functions, like making cappuccino or latte. I've found coffee machines with touch screens and no idea of how to use those independently. Does anyone know a coffee machine that can be operated with buttons or an app?
Thanks in advance.

I have a Breville barista express. It has knobs that click into place and large buttons. I use puff paint to mark the grind level for my favorite beans, but you can easily feel the notches in the dial for that. It's also super easy to clean. There is a bar that pops up when the tray needs emptying.

My suggestion is you post on /r/coffee or /r/espresso. What you're looking for sounds like what's called a super automatic. They're looked down upon, so make sure you mention you want to operate it without sight and that's why you don't want a "real" espresso machine.
Here's my suggestion for a post title that should cut through the first few questions: I'm blind and would like a recommendation for a super-automatic machine for making milk drinks that can be operated through tactile buttons or a phone app.
Keep in mind that an app night not be accessible. Expect to get recommendations that cost well over $500 and suggestions to buy used.

I'm looking for the same kind of thing. Kindly let me know what you decide on, OP.

I gave my visually impaired boyfriend a Keurig K-Compact single serve coffee maker for Christmas and he loves it. Only 4 buttons and they’re all distinguishable by size. Power button is on the top, large size coffee option is the biggest button, medium serving size is a medium sized button in the middle, smallest coffee serving size is a small button being the last one. He organizes his pods and keeps them in their boxes so he knows what is what. Keurig also has the K-cafe edition that doesn’t have any screen and has buttons too. I have that one and I make lattes since it has a froth maker with it

I use a version of this as well. Love it.

Nespresso original line and vertuo. Many of those are one button operation

They are, but the problem is that the pods are all identical once you throw them in a drawer or box and you can't stick anything on them or it jams the machine. It's kind of a pain. I mean I like hot chocolate!

Fair point. My trick is I have an organizer by amazon and load a full sleeve into each column. could mark the sleeve boxes. Not sure if seeing AI can read them either

My suggestion is to check Best Quality Coffee for $1 or machines. They have a collection of the latest coffee machines.

I’m working on an app to make touch screens accessible. It’s in beta now. If you’d be interested in testing it, please send me a message. I’d be interested to find out if we could make the coffee machine you want to use work for you.
