Atypical glaucoma - anyone experience this? (self.Blind)
submitted by rpgedgar
I had an eye exam the other day, and while my eye pressure shows up as normal, there are beginning signs of damage to my optical nerve, which my doctor finds curious as I'm 38 and in generally good health. He believes one of the culprits may be an atypical form of glaucoma, and we're going to run some tests soon to figure out for sure.

Has anyone else here experienced this? Did you have symptoms leading up to it? How are you treating/managing it?

It is possible for people to get glaucoma with normal pressures still. The doctor should be able to test for it if that is the case.

Your IOP can actually vary during the day. It might have been fine at that time, but very high at some other point.

It's a possibility worth discussing with your doctor. Ultimately, you can get it checked every two hours over the course of a day.

That being said, I'm not a doctor and anybody on the internet that claims to be is actually an FBI agent. Or something else, but definitely not a doctor.
