As an aside, as a Canadian I’m always impressed with the RNIB. Their store is leaps and bounds better than ours, they actually advocate for blind people, and they’re active and responsive online. The CNIB suuuuuuuucks.

they advocate for older blind people or those who've lost their sight. Supplying equipment to the more able blind people is hit and miss; I've had braille products warehoused beneath heavy boxes so everything is squished and had to wait 3 weeks for a new white cane (kinda an essential travel tool).
Also the way they handle their books is ridiculous, they launched the orbit reader with, initially, no content to read on it. Crazy.
They are getting better, I suppose. Slow process. Better than nothing.

There are several Bluetooth enabled coffee scales out there, in the $120 to $200 range, if I'm not mistaken.
Since you can never be sure the apps are accessible, I'd ask people over at /r/coffee to test theirs with VoiceOver

I use https://smartchef.me/ for weighing espresso every day. The display is pretty high-contrast, and the normal app works perfectly well with VoiceOver.

does this app let you see the weight with VoiceOver? Have a deafblind colleague who'd benefit from being able to use her Braille display with a scale.

Yup, VoiceOver works just fine with the app for pretty much everything.
