I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself! I live in Colorado, USA, and have pericentral RP. It came on later than most, in my 30s instead of childhood. I still have fair vision but the deterioration is accelerating. I have two older brothers who also have RP that came on in adulthood. I've browsed this sub somewhat already and I really appreciate that y'all are here!

Welcome! I also have RP and if I can be of any help or support don’t be shy to reach out!

Thank you! Really struggling with it emotionally this week for the first time in a while. I've been meaning to go see my low vision specialist (haven't seen him since the pandemic started for obvious reasons) and when I went to his website yesterday I found out he's retiring in a few months! He's such a reassuring presence even when I don't see him very often so I'm really bummed, but I did make an appointment in a few weeks to see him one more time. He also has RP.

Hey, whatever works for you. I personally am not a big fan of the cane. Getting my dog definitely changed my life for the better

Fellow Colorado in here. Did you go to the school?
snimminycricket [OP]1 points2y ago
No, I was diagnosed at age 34, so I didn't go to the school for the deaf and blind. But I live pretty close to it!
