Truncated domes (texturized bumps at crosswalks) (self.Blind)
submitted by aidanglogan
How much do you rely on truncated domes to safely cross the street? Do you find them particularly helpful? What other techniques do you use?

Most of my clients do find them useful. They usually located with their canes first, and then slow down to feel with their feet. Most of my clients would not be able to identify those domes from stepping on it alone.

I've hated those things for decades. The ridges were good enough. Why'd they have to fix what wasn't broken?
