How do you play digital trivia games by yourself? What's your favorite trivia game? (self.Blind)
submitted by Mic__0
Hello everyone!

I was writing some quiz questions and I began to wonder how people who are totally blind play trivia games by themselves. I'm curious about how you play those games on trivia websites, to be specific, using your computers vs using your phones. I know that text-to-speech software can allow you to listen to the questions, but how do you answer them?

Also, what would you add or change about your favorite trivia game site to make it more user-friendly for you? (Because everyone should be able to enjoy trivia!)

I haven't found a good trivia game that is actually accessible. If one exists, I would love to find it. I have Trivia Crack and Trivia Crack and Kingdoms, but those have so many pop-ups and interface is so cluttered that they're hardly usable. if the answers are clearly labeled as buttons or something like that, they would be very easy to access with a screen reader. The more picture oriented things are, the less chance we have of being able to play. I hope this helps and answers your question a little bit.

Thanks for your answer, and yes it does help! So from what I understand, you use a screen reader to hear the questions and answers, then you try to guess where the answer buttons are on the screen so that you can touch the answer you want? Am I correct?

Ideally, I wouldn't have to necessarily guess where the answer buttons are. If everything is configured correctly, I would be able to swipe to the answers I wanted. The problem is, the trivia crack games are so cluttered that it does not work the way it supposed to. What I'm picturing is a game where the question appears at the top of the screen and then I can use voiceover gestures to flick through the answers and then double tap the one that I want to choose. I would think there would be a way to have something that functions that way yet is still visually appealing for main stream players.

Thanks for your answers! I get what you mean by TriviaCrack being cluttered, plus the ads, and the fact that there are different formats and types of trivia on the app.

I haven't tried the app that use speech recognition, but it's good to know that they exist.

I think what's really messed up with regards to Trivia Crack is that I deliberately paid for no ads for both versions of the games, but even though I pay for it to be add free, it's continually popping up upsell's of things within the game, I suppose. Anyway, the more I think about it, the more I think that uninstalling it would probably be for the best. A shame, as I love to play trivia with friends. There was a great, mostly accessible trivia game called true or false, but it stopped working a while back.

Another question I have is have you played any online or mobile game that allows you to talk back to it (meaning it uses speech recognition)?

There are lots of games like that for the Amazon echo devices. They are pretty cool. I would imagine that the Google assistant has games as well, but I am not in the Google ecosystem as much.

The ones for the Amazon echo are probably the best. I play several on a daily basis. Jeopardy is my favorite, but there's also who wants to be a millionaire, trivia hero, and trivia battle, among others. I gave up on iPhone based trivia games a long time ago because most of them just weren't accessible
