I've had some experience with the esight 1 and 3, but not for personal use (I was helping some clients use them).
Does your father use a CCTV? At it's core, it is essentially a wearable CCTV. It can't replace any lost vision, but it can make things larger.

It looks cool but it seems overpriced for what it is.
However, if I had a job/hobby doing lots of fine work with my hands, like pbc soldering, the price could be justified.

Thanks for asking because I had never heard of this product before. I have RP with not much peripheral vision left but good acuity where I do see. I checked out the product you mentioned as well as another one. I watched a few Youtube videos about them.
For me, I don't think they would work the way I'd expect them. They don't mention restoring any peripheral vision - as I expected. I can't see where I can't see. It does offer enhancements to where I can see. For me at this time, the enhancements are not needed yet.
Your father us a completely different case and might find it a helpful solution. You can look for their online videos as they do go over some of the features and benefits. It might be helpful to your dad based upon his specific needs.
Thanks for posting this. Not really able to offer much.
