Do any of you use Robin Hood or Coin Base with voiceover on iOS?(self.Blind)
submitted by guitarandbooks
Hi everybody. Do any of you use the Robin Hood or Coin Base iOS apps with Voiceover? If so, how successful are you with them? I setup an account with robin Hood today and everything was going fine until I accepted the terms and conditions after entering all of my data and verifying my phone number and identity etc.

I had a sighted person look at the app and there are three options on the screen where you can add funds to your account and do other things. According to Voiceover though, the window is totally empty. that is with screen recognition off and screen recognition on. I did receive an e-mail saying that my robin Hood account was created...

Am I stuck now or is there some sort of workaround? I was looking forward to using this particular app/service but if it's not doable, it'd be good to know now.

I haven't started with Coin base yet because I'd like to get some feedback on accessibility with Voiceover first.

Any info any of you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Avoid Robinhood. Vanguard, at least in the US, has a very accessible platform at least on the web.

Second this. Avoid Robinhood at all costs. Not reputable.

One small note, screen recognition seems to be broken for some people in iOS 14.6 and up. In the VoiceOver settings, under VoiceOver recognition, and finally screen recognition, you can make sure the app is not set to use it and try again. The way it breaks is by showing nothing on the screen, just as you say this app is doing.

I am totally blind, and I use both of these apps on a daily basis. Once you get past the things in Robinhood it is very accessible with voiceover I make purchases all the time and trades all the time. Coin base I just started using recently and it does have some flaws in terms of accessibility. It is not perfect. But I am able to use it.

I have never used either one, but you can probably contact their help center or something like that to answer any of your questions.
