I have both of mine removed. What exactly do you want to know?

I’m wanting to know how was the surgery and about recovery afterwards

Before I start, just a note that my surgeries took place in around 2001-02, so things have most likely changed since then.

I have been blind since an early age, and back in 2001 my right eye started causing me pain. The decision was made to remove it, so they took it out. I didn't have any pain after surgery.. The doctors think that eye had been hurting for years, and I didn't know it. When they removed the eye, the surgical pain was less than the pain I had before, so I didn't really feel it. I had the left eye removed the next year, and that one hurt.

After both surgeries I couldn't lift anything heavier than a newspaper for six weeks, but I know other people who didn't have that restriction.

I hope that helps.

I had one removed around the same time and don't recall having the weight restriction. I did have it when I had a cataract removed a few years ago though. I developed it early because I was a premie.

I had one removed when I was 12.

The surgery went great but it was really painful when I first woke up. I didn't have vision in that eye ever so it wasn't a big change for me.

I don't have any issues with my prosthetic other than gunk in my eye if I don't use the cream they prescribe me. Basically your body will constantly attack the prosthetic causing you to have "eye boogers". Other than that though I haven't had any issues.

If you have more questions I'm open to answer them.

Do you need a prosthetic afterwards

I'm not sure if it's necessary. I think I've seen people without them.
