I’ve been trying to look at the same thing myself for school. I tend to get really bad eye strain with computer monitors and iPads, but I do alright with the kindle e-reader and was hoping to find something with a bigger screen that I could kind view more material on.

I was looking online at the Likebook E-Reader P10, 10” Eink Carta Screen, but is it just a normal tablet? I definitely want something that is like the Kindle and has that paper-like no-glare screen, but I don’t know the exact term for it.

I have a Kobo Forma with an 8" screen which is larger than a kindle. The font sizes go pretty big.

Thank you for responding on here! Does it have that flat affect like kindle or is more like an ipad where is has the glassy top?

Flat matte like a kindle. Reads more formats too.

It's a bit pricey compared to others but I've got no complaints.

It depends on the kindle: some of the kindles also have an eink carta screen.

But I'd think you'd need to see the glare levels for yourself: IIRC the boox ones are a bit more glarey.

Thank you! That makes sense. I have the same issue with computer screens too, honestly. Part of my main issue is the ability to focus my eyes, so the ones that have a reflection of the room behind me makes my eyes spasm as I try to focus on the image behind the glass.

I’ve never known anywhere that you can go check those out in person, but maybe if I look into return policies that might be an option for viewing them in person.

Like you, I can read with magnification, but it really strains my eyes. I've thought about an e-ink reader too. I've been following the Reinkstone R1 for a bit. It runs Android and uses a color e-ink screen. There are short reviews of pre-production units on YouTube.

It seems reallycool, but I don't know if 10.1" is going to be big enough for me.

I had a look on my relative's Surface Pro 7 (12.3" screen) and it seems that things are impossible for me in portrait, and legible but hard in landscape.

I think the is a Boox tablet that is 13". I generally just crank up the font size and/or use the magnification options. It's slower reading, but works best for me. The vast amount of reading is one of the reasons I ruled out going to law school to start a new career.

Yeah, I will probably get one anyway, lacking better options.

Mostly I am wondering if it is worth an ereader over a tablet given the slower refresh rate: How much will I want to zoom in and drag across, rather than just keeping it at paragraph-width and going down?

Can't really say without going for one, and I think I'd rather vote with my money for eink tech as a first try.

One thing you might consider is the OS on the device. Kindle allows you to make the fonts big, but sometimes it's not enough, so I use Android accessibility features as well. The best bet would be a reader than runs Android.
