I'm a registered blind, aspiring Music Producer. Here's some epic cinematic music I made. If anyone has questions about music production for the visually impaired, ask away. I'm happy to help ! (youtu.be)

What apps or equipment do you use to produce music?
BIIANSU [OP] 3 points 1y ago
The main software that I use is called Ableton. It's great as it's a vector interface, meaning that the image quality doesn't decrease when it's scaled larger. Plus, it has some decent minor GUI controls.

My keyboard is an entry level MIDI keyboard by M-Audio.

That sounded great!

Another question.
How did you learn to produce music?
Thanks in advance

No problem, ask away! My friend is a producer and do I showed a bit of interest in what he did. He showed me the initial set up process, got it calibrated to my level of vision and I just went from there.

Just hours and hours of playing around. I'll sometimes watch tutorials but for the most part, they're really difficult to watch and understandably, aren't made for people like us in mind.

The music is sick 🤘 and the video edits are dope, too!

Cheers, I really appreciate it. I'll be looking to do a lot more of this stuff for sure 😊

Awesome sounds! I'm interested to know how accessible the tech you use is (e.g. Ableton)? I have a friend with an 8 year old son who is blind, and he's just begun composing music. Any recommendations on which software to use?

Hey, sorry for my late reply. Ableton looks to be the best, as you can set the UI to be highly magnified. It's also a vector based UI, meaning it's still sharp quality even when magnified.

I'm happy to show you in more detail if need be? I could make a quick video.

If you’re looking for screen reader accessibility then Logic on Mac and Reaper for both Mac and Windows are both highly accessible. :)

I’ve not use a Mac in years, but I’ve heard logic is very very accessible.

Applevis might be able to help you.

Right now Ableton is not accessible.
