Is anisocoria (uneven pupil sizes/dilation) a symptom or trait of retinitis pogmentosa? (self.Blind)

Retinitis pogmentosa: condition in which one's retina gradually turn into pogs.

Serious response:

My understanding is retinitis pigmentosa does cause your pupils to react in the opposite manner to sources of light, letting more light in when there is bright light (dilation) and shrinking to filter light out when there is low light. This behaviour, as I understand, is the cause of bright light being painful and loss of no/low light vision in those of us with retinitis pigmentosa.

I am however not an ophthalmologist, nor do I have any formal medical training. There are other reasons one's pupil can dilate and you should be consulting your specialist to conduct the appropriate examinations and run suitable tests to determine the cause of any unusual pupil dilation or other eye related issues.

I see, so as someone with rp, if I may ask/prod with a question, do your pupils not restrict under light then? I mean for me my pupils get smaller as I am exposed to light and get larger in the dark

I mean no dsrespect but I dont think their answer was correct. If you have RP its pobable that your pupils or eyes may also be a bit deformed in some ways. As you said one pupil might be bigger or you may have a lazy eye. One or both pupils may have a slow response to light stimuli but I do not think thatt my pupils dialate in bright light and constrict in the dark. I have RP btw. When the eyes get more sensitive to light with progression of the disease your pupils may appear bigger. I know a youtuber with RP who only has light perseption and his pupils always appear dilated.

Yes, and that's why I said I'm not an ophthalmologist. That's what I'd been told to the best of my recollection regarding my specific condition, but there may well be other variables at play that are the cause, if such a thing is even evident.

Ah I see I see, when you say one pupil may be bigger, do you mean in a constant permanent sense or fluctuating?

Permanent.
