Online games that can be played by blind and cited together (self.Blind)
submitted by NoClops
I am blind. My husband is not. We’re looking for some sort of logic-style online game that we can play together. We really loved doing the escape room skill on our Alexa device, but we went through all of them. The podcasts we are finding are either not very workable order set up for single-player.

Hey there! I'm blind, my fiance is not. We've enjoyed playing a few text based adventures together, most notably Anchorhead, a send up to Lovecraft stories. These kinds of games are technically single player, but either person could read the prompts aloud with a screen reader or visually. Commands are typed in. This game was tons of fun and we have yet to find one to equal it but I know they exist. Lots of fun puzzles. I'm also interested to see what others have to say because I also want more answers to this question.

Hey there. If you have access to an iPhone, maybe look into Frotz. It is a player for a wide variety of interactive fiction text adventure games, and it seems to be accessible. (The same games can be played on a variety of devices, but I’m not familiar with the various programs personally.) You can browse through the game list from inside the app.

If you ever find yourself wanting to play a board or card game, try looking into $1. You can play a selection of games online and chat with other players all over the world. The primary focus is accessibility, and they have self-voicing game clients available for Windows, Mac, and iPhone. Your husband would probably want to use the web client instead, since it actually has visible text and buttons in-line the standalone clients. It takes getting used to, but it’s totally playable either way.

I second Frotz. There is also an NVDA addon to play on Windows. Having someone with you to work through the puzzles together is very helpful and makes it a great experience.

interactive fiction was my go-to joy when I could only access the Internet for a few hours a week. Their small footprint and the fact that they worked offline was a huge sell for me 2 decades ago. Glad to see they're still available and playable.

You could always play a good MUD together. Shoutout to /r/MUD for some text based adventure games. If I remember correctly, Alter Aeon had a really good blind mode and a Windows mud client to use with it

They’re rebuilding right now, but, if you like card games, keep Blind Adrenaline in mind.
