Rollercoasters (self.Blind)
submitted by jasondbk
Are rollercoasters and other amusement park rides more or less scary because you can’t see the big dip or the high turns until you feel them?

I don’t like rollercoasters because I could see their path and that scared me. Now I’m not sure if I should because what if it’s more frightening not knowing what’s coming?

I've never found them to be scary, and I don't think about what might be next. I just sit down and enjoy whatever it does.

Our VI daughter loves heights, roller coasters, abseiling etc and when she was little I do think some of that was to do with her being unable to see the danger that her sibling could. But as they have aged I think it's personality based or vestibular based. I mean the thrill of a roller coaster is actually less visual I would think and more about how your tummy and head react to the motion

Also the brave one is her dad to a T and the wuss is me to a T, that's why I lead more in personality than vision

So we went on the Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios in LA. As we went down the big drop at the end, I was just opening my mouth to say woah that was amazing when the ride decided to insert all of the water from the lake at the bottom directly into my face. Possibly if I'd been better able to see it coming that wouldn't have happened but so much water went down my throat that I'm amazed the park didn't try to charge. I'm clinging to the fact that it was hilariously funny to all the people who were with me. I don't want to put anyone off their lunch but it tasted like people had been dropping half finished theme park snacks in it for a year. I can still taste it when I burp.

So I have a lot of stories with me and rollercoasters. I either have someone draw the track on my hand with their finger, or I "go in blind"

I love amusement parks because I got to skip the lines with disability pass, and the staff were always very nice to me.

Amusement parks I've been to include: Canada's Wonderland, 6 Flags Darion Lake Buffalo, Disneyworld Florida
