Alexa control for low vision elderly woman?(self.Blind)
submitted by Rude_Citron9016
Hi, trying to figure out the best way for my 86 year old mostly-blind Mom to work her TV. She's not good with hand-held remote controls. She's in a elder facility with Tv service provided through a bulk agreement with small box. She pays extra for wifi. Her TV is a 2019 Samsung 32". I am seeing the FireTV Blaster that could control her cable box, and the FireTV Cube that can also control her cable box. Or wondering if Alexa skill is good enough with Spectrum app on TV, and ditch the box? Wondering if anyone has advice or experience with these 3 options.... Alexa control of Spectrum app, FireTv Blaster, FireTV Cube
Update. Got her a FireTV and echo speaker. Turns out Spectrum doesn’t offer the Spectrum app for the FireTV platform. Tried setting up the Spectrum app on her previous Samsung TV. Turns out older Samsung models offer limited Alexa functionality. Returned Samsung. Kept newer model year Toshiba FireTV hoping it will have better Alexa functionality going forward. The Toshiba seems to be working better for Mom with her tiny cable box than the Samsung did, can’t say for sure why.
