What awkward encounters. I wear them in public or anytime I leave the house because when I talk to people I need to look next to them rather than AT them to see them due to central vision loss. Is that what you mean by awkward?

I wear sunglasses pretty much 24/7 because of light sensitivity, and generally I don't awkward encounters. It really only happens the first time I am in a group that will be a regular part of my life, like a book club, volunteering with the local youth group or activities at my housing program. At which point I tend to get a lot of questions as they seem to be viewed as an icebreaker by everyone but. Though my dog is the most common point of conversation people use. I do not typically find these conversations any more awkward than any other conversation between two people trying find something to talk about when no obvious similarities exist.

I wear them because I don't always stare directly at people when I'm listening. Plus, they look nice... or so I'm told.

I have a lazy eye in my left die since I can’t see out of it. I used to cover my face with my hair and bangs but with the job I have I need to have all my hair pulled out of my face. I’m very self-conscious of the way that my eye is slick but I have been just dealing with it. Are used to wear sunglasses everywhere on video chat and everything but now I’m slowly starting to show my eyes.

I wear sunglasses to cut down on light sensitivity from RP photophobia. It doesn't seem to impact awkward encounters. I gets two main types: 1 - I care a lot so I'm going to violate your space and free will or 2 - misplaced hostility and accusations of fakery

My BF is very light sensitive because of his visual impairment so he wears sunglasses a lot.
Helps with awkward encounters because some people think hes faking it whenever hes wearing his regular glasses. That way he fits peoples stereotypes which in a lot of ways makes things easier.
Only downside is he actually CANT See when its too dark so He HAS to Take them off when ist too overcast or whatever.

I sometimes wear sunglasses because it helps regulate the amount of visual information I have to process so I can better concentrate on what I'm looking at. And it also helps because I don't like to make eye contact.

I wear sunglasses any time I leave the house due to photophobia. I have tinted indoor glasses too but glasses juggling is really annoying so I usually just leave my sunglasses on when I stop into the pharmacy or somewhere quick like that. The only awkward encounters I have are when people get frustrated because I can’t see them waving me to cross the street.

I don’t wear sunglasses at all. Least not yet, but who knows what the future will bring

Yes I do even inside some places bc it takes me awhile to process what I'm looking at and ppl probably think I'm staring at them little do they can't see them 9/10x.

I do most of the time.
