Questionnaire on the needs for outdoor navigation (self.Blind)
submitted by kegbird
I've read the warning thread: I've done some researches and I hope this thread will not be removed.

Hello everyone!

I'm a college student and I'm conducting a research on the needs of people with visual impairments about outdoor navigation.

To collect these data, I've prepared a questionnaire of 25 questions that I share with this post: the questionnaire is aimed at people with visual impairments of any entity.

$1

The purpose of this questionnaire is to analyze the needs of people with visual impairments about outdoor navigation, in order to create an application for smartphone that eases their mobility in unknown environments.

I also want to say that all this is done for research purposes.

I would be extremely grateful, if you could share this survey with other people concerned in this study.

I would like to thank everyone who will contribute to this research.

Have a nice day!

Might I recommend rewording the section asking about our visual impairment. You use 6/XX as measurement. The most common that I have seen has been 20/XX and also Binocular residual peripheral vision can be substituted with Visual field as thats the more commonly used term.

In addition, id recommend adding this to your post so people dont have to click through a link to understand why this is being conducted:

The purpose of this questionnaire is to analyze the needs of people with visual impairments about outdoor navigation, in order to create an application for smartphone that eases their mobility in unknown environments.

It is composed by 25 questions related the crucial aspects that will be considered during the development of the application.

The 6/XX is more common in Europe because it is Metric, while the 20/XX is more often used in North America. In Canada, 80% of the doctors use 20/XX, and the other 20% use 6/XX (although lately there has been a lot more usage of the 20/XX).

Right, i figured that to be the case. Think best could be to provide both. So it includes everyone:)

At least he didn't use LogMar, which is a weird decimal version. Although it is suppose to be more accurate than the snellen.
