Blind People in Crew (self.Blind)
submitted by msimmons024
I’m going to tryout for the rowing team at my college, Gonzaga University, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience being a completely blind rower. I’m sure I’ll be able to figure it out, but I was curious to see if I could bypass some of the headaches I might run into.

Well I don’t think they’ll let you coxswain?

Lol I’d have to use a lot of echo location and have a really long cane

I did rowing for an event once and our "Captain" used to count us off so that we could all stay in time, it's super doable even without vision. Good luck with it, it can be pretty fun!

I know two low vis people who rowed crew. If you aren't able to find anyone I can try to see if they know any totally blind rowers.
