Screen Magnifiers (self.Blind)
submitted by Sveiks42
Hi everyone. My mother in law is legally blind and just moved across country from California to Maryland to be closer to her grandkids. In the move it has become apparent that her screen magnifier for her computer needs to be replaced. It’s old and crashes all the time.

My wife and I really want to help her get a new screen magnifier, but we don’t know where to start.

Is there a site that compares options based on cost, quality, etc? And/or do any of you folks on here strongly recommend any products or processes? Are there senior citizen or disability discounts for these things?

Big thanks…

The one on Windows 10 works well with some adjustments, I personally loved the one on macOS as well.

If the computer is newer like windows 10 the built in one is really nice.

That aside zoom text from freedom scientific is good too and you can get it on a yearly subscription which may be cheaper in the long run. But if that computer is old then it will not run well.

Your best answer may be a new computer in general with embed accessibility depending on what she is using it for

You can only get it as a yearly subscription in the states I believe however. So that’s something to consider if you don’t live in the states. That said the windows 10 magnifier is fantastic and very easy to use. It’s also free.
