I'm very excited about being a part of this.

People keep asking about good hobbies and I have to say TTRPGs are great fun and a good way to interact with other people.

Why did you add so much annoying formatting in this post when you should know that screen readers will pause at each formatting change...

what is with all the completely unnecessary formatting? i had to swipe like a dozen times just to get through one sentence :/

I'm curious what screen reader, if any, you're using. I don't get formatting changes announced and I could use them sometimes.

i mostly use my iphone or ipad for browsing reddit (only just recently started using reddit for blind on desktop) and on ios, anytime there is a format change such as adding bold, italics, underlines, or links, reading stops and you have to swipe to continue to the next word/line. doing a two finger swipe down to read from cursor doesn’t stop reading, however it does make a sound as if a new line was started. it does not however indicate what the formatting change was.

it sorta treats reading it out as if each format change is a new line. it’s just really really annoying when quickly browsing through posts.

I recommend swipe down with two fingers, then sit back and relax. Stop swiping through everything one item at a time.

i am pursuing a career in adaptive tech, specializing in ios for my local center for the blind so i am well aware of how the two finger swiping down gesture works. sometimes i skim through paragraphs or posts instead of reading the entire thing, mostly to skip over links or irrelevant info.

i am simply pointing out that the formatting is strange and maybe a bit unnecessary and voiceover treats it as new lines, which is annoying. especially when voiceover does not indicate that it is a change in formatting. i only found that out from a desktop client because it shows every asterisk in the post instead of saying a word is bold or italicized.

Interesting... It looks like different Reddit clients might have different behaviors. Bold should just be a simple <strong> tag, but I could see VoiceOver stopping if the app used something like a <div> instead.

i’ve always used bacon reader on ios, have yet to find another reddit client that works as well or better.

and i made a short video of how the bacon reader client reads the post, where you can hear how it pauses after each format change and you have to swipe to continue. it’s only about a minute long and should help explain what i mean by having to swipe a bunch of times to finish a sentence.

Bolding was added for Visually Impaired folks, which may be the issue.

yeah but like, every word is bolded on its own, like **you** **have** something like **this** going **on** and just makes things super hard to read easily. i think the event itself sounds pretty cool and good on you for hosting an event, but just in my opinion the excessive formatting is a bit too much and makes it difficult to read. only trying to give a little constructive feedback.
