Wet AMD? Pretty much no central vision in left eye (self.Blind)
submitted by Vord2
Hey guys. I'm 22 years old from Poland, and about 2 months ago I noticed that my central vision slowly began to be blurry, and straight lines started to look like they were curved.

My first serious problems with left eye began when I was 18 - suddenly, black spots in my vision started appearing (everywhere, not only in central part). I lost pretty much 70-80% of my vision for a moment, but thankfully, it somehow healed, leaving only one, reasonably big scar on the left side of my eye, though it's not even that bothering. I've been to countless amounts of doctors, no one knew what it was. To be honest still to this day I have no idea.

Exactly same thing happened after 2 years when I was 20. Lost a lot of my vision again, though it wasn't as bad as before, it also healed quicker but also left a small scar.

Now, it seems like it's happening again, but this time it's different. I have only one, big foggy point at the center of my vision. It's been like that for the past 2 months and it seems like it's growing. Like a month ago I was still able to see pretty clearly in the center though everything was curved, now I can hardly see in the central point. I'm pretty much blind in that spot, only in a very good daylight I'm able to see somewhat clearly, but not good enough to read, I see everything as if it was underwater, and on the edges of that 'blind spot' I can't see anything anymore.

I've had hope that it would go away as the previous times, but it seems like this one is staying for longer. I've been to a new doctor as soon as it started, he diagnosed it with macular degeneration and gave me some eye drops and prescribed anti-hemorrhagic pills, but I don't think that it's helping. It seems like it's getting worse to be honest, I've been to see cursor on the screen somewhat clearly, now it looks like it's under a very dark fog.

I'm kinda scared that my central vision in left eye will be gone forever. I'm going for next appointment with my doctor in 2 days. He didn't call it 'Wet AMD', it just looks like it when I read about it on internet. Do you guys have any recommendations on what to do in this situation? Is there any hope that it will improve? For a moment it seemed like it actually got less foggy, but now it's getting worse again.

Cheers guys.

AMD is usually related to age (The full name is Age-Related Macular Degeneration). It is possible it can be Juvenile MD, which is a term for a bunch of diseased such as Stargardt's.

In terms of whether it would improve or not, it would depend on what the actual eye condition is, so you'll have to wait to see what the tests say. Same for the treatment. Once you get a diagnosis, the doctor can hopefully give more information to follow up on.

So doctors have scanned your eyes and everything and found nothing ? No signs of any disease?

It turned out to be either CSR or PCV. There were clear signs of fluid leakage when scanned by OCT

Did you get your vision back at least ?

Do you have similiar symptoms?

Yea sort of, my vision is like hazy like the center of my vision is blurry and it’s getting worse and worse but no eye doctor can find anything wrong. And I also have pain In my eye as well so maybe it could be csr.

I can see with this eye, but unfortunaty there's a lot of pernament scarring. Also my vision with this eye is disorted, straight lines appear curved. It's not much of an issue when having both eyes opened, the second one recompensates. Lost a bit of depth perception though.
