Looking for Windows maintenance tools accessible for screen readers (self.Blind)
submitted by All-Sided
In the past few years, whatever maintenance program I will try happens to be inaccessible. Apart from CCleaner. My PC currently even has got no antimalware software. I am on Windows 10, which comes with the Windows Defender app, but I'd prefer to use something else. I rely exclusively on the keyboard. I'm using NVDA, but often the Narrator app comes in handy for me as well. I just got a new laptop and wish to keep it free of junk from the very start.

So, as of September 2021, are there the following programs or any other utilities out there that would be accessible for me:

An antivirus program;

A good uninstaller that can search the registry and all the folders for leftowers of the program after it's done with the main uninstallation,

And everything in between. I have CCleaner and find most of its interface pretty accessible. I would say not everything is perfect, but I can perform everything on my own without help.
Any input would be very much appreciated.

1. 1. Windows defender does the job, especially if you're looking for a free anti virus - i don't think you'll find something better.

2. "add or remove programs" + CCleaner should also do the job.

There is no silver bullet tho, so prob just reinstall your os from time to time. (yearly for example).

Also while i know the desire to keep everything clean in a new pc - worrying for registry entries is not worth it, it's a micro cleanup.

Thanks for your reply. This Windows Defender wouldn't let me install one synthesiser of Russian speech until I disabled it. As for side antimalware software, I just have found out Dr.Web is worth a try, so will look into it.
