Please talk to someone - not your eye people, but a therapist, someone that is preferably well trained with what you’re going through. My dad was completely blind by the time he was 20. He was, however, able to see me when I was born, and he holds those memories dear. Be strong, and remember, we live in a time where anything is possible. Science could very well save or replace your eye! ❤️ adding: if your doctors truly seem to not understand your fears and concerns as being valid, if you are in a position to do so, perhaps talk to someone else, get another opinion from someone that understands that they are working with your sight, not a routine exam!

I really have no idea about what you must be going through. I can only tell you that I have interacted with people who have been dealing with total vision loss for many years who have developed ways to cope with said loss. Im hoping that your grief is tolerable and you recognize ways that you can be productive and happy

Doctors tend to think of things in terms of “it’s not cancer so that means everything is okay” I’m glad you reached out here idk where you live but if you can get in touch with a counselor or social worker that can help you get into a program for the visually impaired that might be helpful, that way you can talk through your fears with people who understand how scary this can be especially when it’s new and then help you with it because going blind doesn’t have to ruin your life even if it feels that way at first.

I lost eyesight in my left eye slowly due Retinopathy of prematurity and retinal degeneration over the year 17 years ago. It was slowly dimming then all faded away, till it happened i seek help around the world i still hope maybe in next years i could see with it due to regenerative medicine this technology is still not available in safe clinical human studies but who knows what will happen in next years?

If you don't want to sit without action and try everything possible even clinical trials the only site i can recommend is
clinicaltrials.gov
Itself was on not paid clinical trial for medication for non eye disease had good experience. It's the only worldwide site to search for registered safe clinical trials.

Your optometrist should have already been referred to an ophthalmologist. If not, demand it.

I've been blind all my life so can't help with that but if you talk to another doctor, if you can, that might help.
