Siri not playing missed calls or voicemails(self.Blind)
submitted by gabagool049
Is anyone else having this issue? My dad is blind and uses Siri to operate a lot of his iPhone. This week we’ve noticed when he asks Siri to play voicemail or missed calls she says she can’t help with that.
Any ideas?

What iOS is he running and does he have accessibility on or off?

14.7.1. I think we need to update. Would that fix it? Accessibility is on. It was working fine last week or so

For announcing calls, you have to go into Siri and Search and turn the setting back on.

Worth noting is that iOS 15 changes the search bar location in safari and changes safari's layouts which is what I find most annoying about the feature. You can change the location of the search bar back to the top, but the tab feature is still a bit of a nightmare for me. So if he is the type to get grumpy over these types of changes, allow him to be the one to update to iOS 15 when he is ready.

14.7.1 is the new official update I believe. I'm on iOS 15 and haven't ran into this problem, but that doesn't mean it will fix it. There are still minor accessibility issues on iOS 15 as it's still more or less in beta stage.
Try toggling voiceover off and then on. If that doesn't work, reset up voicemail under Phone app > Click the Voicemail tab > Tap Set Up Now.
If there was a voicemail password, you may have to reset that from your carrier end.
If none of the above works, disable wifi.
If that doesn't work then he may have the time zone glitch which is fixed under settings as well. Settings > General > Date & Time, turn on Set Automatically.
If none of the above works, turn off and turn on the phone (or start at this step and then proceed to the other steps). My phone powers down by holding the lock button and the volume up button. But my husband's powers down by holding the lock button and home screen button.
If nothing above works, taking it into an apple store or calling apple customer care might be in order.
