Need help for a depressed senior (self.Blind)
submitted by arkamasylum
My wife takes care of seniors at a nursing home. One of her residents is legally blind but can see very bright colours. The lady is 100 years old now and very depressed. She considers her life pointless because she can no longer see. My wife thinks there may be some gadget or something to help her vision but I’ve never heard of any such tool for those deemed legally blind.
My wife is looking for any means to help her, be it a tool or helpful advice.
Thank you in advance!

What state are you in? Your wife’s work can call/email your state’s department for the blind and they’ll have a ton of free resources to help her. If she can get her boss to call, knowing the state will pay for everything is a major calling card.

They can get her a computer, bright-colored games, audiobooks on cassette, anything really.

We’re in Indiana. Thank you! I’ll pass that along to her.

If you're near Chicago contact the Chicago or Indiana Lighthouse.

Check out the MaxiAids website. They have quite a few different things, might be something there your wife can find for her.

Here is a link to recreational and fun items
