If you are driving a car and see a person with a cane, decrease your fucking speed. I was walking and an asshole broke my cane, and then kept driving and didn't even stop to ask if I was fine. It's going to cost me to replace that cane, and I had to get home without it which is difficult. You could say that maybe the driver was distracted, ok, but why didn't they stop to offer help or something? anyway, I know you all will keep driving like that because humans but I just wanted to get this off my chest. Fuck blindness and other disabilities.

I’m sorry about what happened but i honestly think it wasn’t about the cane. People do this all the time, my perfectly sighted friend had a broken leg from a similar incident, the driver didn’t even stop or shout behind. The world is rushed and merciless sometimes and i’m glad you brought this into attention, maybe more people will notice there’s something wrong with the way they drive. Take care!

I agree, but helping me deal with my frustration was the only difference this post could make. I believe people will still be people, no amount of Reddit posts, punishments, rewards, etc will be able to make a difference. Well, in my opinion at least.

Honestly, I don't think that a LOT of sighted people even know what the white cane is for.

When I am crossing the street and patiently standing there waiting so that I can hear what is going on... people will wave to me to get me to cross first. As if they have absolutely NO IDEA what the white cane means.

I have moved my cane into people's legs and feet trying to get around, I have been accused of hitting them. Like I have ANY control over where they choose to stand.

some idiot ran me over doing nearly 30 a couple years ago on my way to school and cost me my hearing in my 1 working ear not to mention the several broken bones, people just need to pay more attention, preventable car accidents are way too common now

I'm sighted. I feel that way about people in cars, but especially about people on bicycles, e-bikes, and scooters. They don't give a damn about anyone else and I'm afraid of being seriously injured or killed.
