Hi friends! I am planning on going to a paint night with my boyfriend. He is legally blind and told me he never really enjoyed making art because he couldn’t see what he was creating. Any ideas for how I could make this experience more enjoyable for him?

I don’t know his particular degree or type of sight loss, but high contrast can be very helpful. For example, a canvas painted black that he could add white/neon to might be much more visible than adding pastel colors to a white canvas.

This is going to sound really stupid, but if he's actually blind, the best idea I have is be stupid and start a paint war with him. Little dirty, but hey, it'll be memorable.

I'm not sure if this would be possible, but could he use textured or fluffy paint?

You could scan his and others' painting throughout the process with Pixelsynth and listen to the colors! Or even just ask the other participants to describe what they see in his painting.

I just finger painted the entire time when I went to a paint event. I like getting my hands dirty. Hehhe
