Person’s name should be uncontracted or contracted in Braille? (self.Blind)
submitted by theknittingpenis
I am doing a knitting project for my DeafBlind friend. I am planning to make a scarf with Braille imprinted on it with using small beads as dots. I used a few text-to-Braille translators and I recently learn that Braille has two grades which is mind-blowing for me! I tried to find the information about the proper name convention in Braille and I couldn’t find any information about this. It would be greatly appreciated if you know the answer or a resource you can refer me to.

If your friend is a fluent braille reader, then contracted. If you're producing something for the public, grade 1 works because all braille readers can use it.

My friend is not fluent braille reader (he have tunnel vision, Usher Syndrome Type II) but he is still learning since his case is progressive. I will go ahead with Grade 1 to make it convenience for him and his friends. Thank you!!

Contracted, if you're sure they can read it.

He only know the basis of Braille but he is still learning through. I will go ahead with uncontracted for the sake of convenience and I have extra room to implant the beads in the scarf. I plan to have two set of Braille on both ends of the scarf, so whenever his friends appoach him, they will sense there is a Braille on the scarf is my goal. He have a large DeafBlind friends whom are very tactile and strong 'tactile-reader' (not sure that is proper term for it.) And thank you for your time responding my question!

Oh by the way, I love your YouTube channel. I recently subscribed to it, I enjoys your contents. Also, thank you for the captioning! I am Deaf myself and I love when YouTube creators enable the captioning on their videos!

That's a really cool idea! Thank you so much and I'm glad my captions helped! :)
