I did something really blind (self.Blind)
submitted by DrillInstructorJan
So I got out the bag of laundry detergent and put it on the counter, then carefully separated out all the laundry using the buttons sewn in there for that purpose and put it into the washing machine, set the program using the bump dots put there for that purpose, because I am an expert, I prepare for everything like a cub scout, and I know what I'm doing. Then I reached up onto the counter, picked up a bag of granulated sugar, and carefully added enough for a full load of non colourfast clothes on a medium temperature wash. I won't tell you how long it took me to realise what I'd done.

Now I have this need to tell the world what I've done so I can feel properly like an idiot. Please laugh at me in the replies below and I will keep scrubbing the crunchy parts out of my jeans.

Sweet!

Yes thanks that response is going to follow me around for the rest of eternity.
KillerLag 14 points 1y ago
At least you realized it before it got to the dryer stage, or you might have ended up with cotton candy on your clothes.
blind_cowboy 13 points 1y ago
Hope your significant other tells you you have a sweet ass.
Mamamagpie 13 points 1y ago
I’m so curious what effect sugar had on your clothes.
DrillInstructorJan [OP] 10 points 1y ago
In all seriousness basically none, it's pretty diluted and it gets rinsed out. The only reason we could tell is that I carefully put the sugar back in the cupboard where the detergent goes.
codeplaysleep 13 points 1y ago
At least you didn't try and sweeten anything with laundry soap...
JMMSpartan91 6 points 1y ago
That's an elaborate story to explain away crunchy parts in your jeans.... good cover story.

Jk jk but please don't have a nice cup of tea sweetened with detergent. It isn't very tasty. Dropped the container of liquid detergent myself and splashed a good bit of it on my face.

Lol my pal Sher calls these kind of mishaps "trials and tribulations"
PrincessDie123 4 points 1y ago
Good thing they are already in the wash haha, please done eat your detergent next though
Amonwilde 4 points 1y ago
I could see doing that. Sorry about your clothes.

If it makes you feel any better, I recently moved, and spent the first few weeks washing the dishes with the powder soap under the sink. It was right next to the dishwasher, so what else could it be? It did have a bit of a strange consistency to it, but I brushed it off. Yep, turns out that was Miracle Grow. The dishes didn't even get bigger. What a ripoff.

yum :) try coffee next time for that next level crunchy ick experience :)

I am sighted and once spent 6 months using a bottle of hair conditioner as lotion since the bottle was similar/ assuming the contents. Happens to the best of us , you shouldn't feel bad.
nadmaximus 3 points 1y ago
I would much prefer crunchy jeans to detergent cookies
epic_null 3 points 1y ago
Hmm... Sugar disolves in water... I wonder if you could use the rinse cycle to fix the sugar problem...
Riyeko 3 points 1y ago
Oh no im sorry .... Makes for a good texture though
Furrballcentral 2 points 1y ago
Love it! Thanks for sharing.

That's amusing.

Next time, feel for the different bags/boxes and don't rush it.

I definitely got a good laugh - and the replies here are fantastic! I was gonna say "that is a sweet story" but that one had been used already hehe.

I really want to know why you have sugar in your laundry
DrillInstructorJan [OP] 3 points 1y ago
This is the UK where the washing machine is usually under the counter in the kitchen, I know that isn't the case in the USA.
