My eyesight keeps getting worse and worse and I can't help but see spots after strobe lights in clubs. Does anyone wear glasses in clubs? If so what type?

My wife and I go every weekend. We've been going for years, long before I lost my eyesight.
I don't wear glasses or take my cane. Nobody there knows I've gone blind. My wife and I dance holding hands so she can steer me away from other people on the dance floor. I can't see much of anything in a room that dark but thanks to my wife I don't have to.
My advice isn't to try a different pair of glasses, it's to take a trusted friend with you.

Thank you for replying! Yeah I had thought about that fact a cane is nearly useless in a crowd haha. I was more thinking to protect what eyesight I have left 😃

Oh, I misunderstood your question =)
There are lasers and strobe lights constantly sweeping across the dance floor from above. If your club's lights are installed up high a hat with a brim would keep the laser beams out of your eyes and make you look pretty spiffy, too.

Yeah that's true, might have to don the hat more often haha! Thank you! Here's to many more nights out my man!

Not really. Not sure to what degree it‘s just not my scene and to what degree it‘s because of my visual impairment. I really don‘t like flashing lights and with the music usually be quite loud, it bothers me that I can neither see nor hear what‘s happening around me. That said, I know blind people who enjoy nightclubs. Not sure what „tricks“ they have, though.

I've been heading out to clubs on my own for the last 8 years or so. I'm lucky enough that strobes don't mess with the barely useable vision I have, but I do have a hard time with the glare of the huge stage lights in some clubs. If it's a new club I've happened upon during the night, I make sure to look down or away from the stage. If I know I'm going there in advance, I have some prescription shades that block out 60 % of light. They work a charm. As for cane use, I have my cane out all the time until someone wants to dance with me. Only then does it get folded up and put in my back pocket.

See I think I need some like that. I've also found a cap helps with glare btw, depends where the lights are I guess

My advice is to use a cane while navigating the club, even if someone is guiding you. Its crouded and people are drinking, if you run into someone they'll turn and push you back. I take a telescopic cane to the club so that I can put it away while dancing.

Yea, flashing lights and darkness are really a no for me, and I'd end up on my bum falling on the dance floor. Depending on what interests you, places might be more accessible, like jazz clubs.

I went only once, but had a fairly decent time. My dad, "stepmom" and I went out to Atlantic City and I accidentally won $100 at a slot machine so I cashed out and went to a night club with them. They were able to find me a few women my own age to dance with for a while and had some alcohol and it was alright.
I figure if I ever go again I would want a few friends and a designated driver (it's not going to be me for two reasons lol) I'm 30 in like three weeks and was debating about doing this for my birthday but most of my friends would not like that sort of activity.

Accidentally won? Lol
oncenightvaler1 points1y ago
accidentally as in it's very unlikely to win and my dad joked that he took me there as a precaution against becoming addicted to things.

Oh I see, of course! Either way, sounds like a fun time!

Well, if it's something you like doing find friends who like to do that!
