Loosing vision? (self.Blind)
submitted by [deleted]
I started out with 20/70 vision last summer and by mid summer, or later summer before august 14th 2020 I began to loose my vision. I am at 20/200. I did get glasses that make things clearer, but I still can't really see signs with them and I went to the doctor and I could only see half of the line, it was so blurry, maybe even less. i could see the E, but E isn't from what I hear legally blind anymore and E was very blurry. How do you cope with this? I really don't have the support I need except, Jesus. I know how to get around my local area with my cane and go some places on the bus too. Most cars do not stop for me. I have practically no vision from the corner, or so of my right eye over and my left eye has been blind since birth. I just wanted to ask. I'm trying to be brave, but at the drs I got scared and was crying. Sad face. Thank You.

Op did you want to pm me?? I would be more than happy to offer my support. I am VI am have a discord server with other blind and visually impaired people on it. I would recommend getting in touch with your local blindness agency! Out here in California we have lighthouse for the blind in San Francisco, and Enchanted Hills Camp for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Maybe there is something like this where you live!! Fee free to reach out if you want to join!

I don’t want to make assumptions about you, I’ll just share my own experiences.

It’s very possible to have a fulfilling and productive career as a blind person. Resources, support and encouragement are available, and many things you might not imagine a blind person doing are absolutely possible with the right supports in place.

Ask for and receive help on your own terms, and know community exists. We have your back!
