Screen recording/capturing iOS with VoiceOver: best ways (self.Blind)
submitted by Orinks
As you all may know, using the native screen recording feature is all good, until you turn on the Mic and both VoiceOver and any sound while the mic is on and recording switches to the earpiece. An apple rep told me that was designed to help with recording meetings and the like, but it's not very helpful when recording games Or any other things such as an app demo to demonstrate something with VoiceOver.
I've tried Reflector, but I have performance issues with it. On my Six Ages playthrough on Youtube some of it is practically unwatchable because of the uncontrollable stuttering.
With my splitter setup for my Elgato capture card unfortunately I read a review that says my setup won't work with the Apple AV adapter. Anybody know a good way? Really want to resume iOS content on my channel.

What you want to use is “Screen Recorder REC All.” That is what it will show up as on the App Store. I used it to record both the microphone and voiceover, as well as a game. It recorded all at the same time just fine. The app also allows you to save your recorded files to the cloud.

Looks like it's no longer available on the app store, just Android :(

Well, it appears you’re right! I had no idea that it was deleted, since I could have sworn I saw an update for it not too long ago, but I can’t even find it by searching either.

So like I said in the previous comment, I keep seeing updates for this app. I saw one this morning, so I got curious. Apparently, it underwent a name change at some point. It is now called “Screen Recorder fast recorder.” Search for all of what is in the quotes. Just a partial search won’t do it. Not sure if it doesn’t pull it up at all, or if there are just too many results, but searching for all the words brings it right up.

Try using a microphone echoing app like $1 in the background during your recording session. On my iPhone the audio quality of that app isn't very good, so you may be better off searching for something else.

The recorded VO comes naturally into the recording, even if for you as the recorder it's tied into the earpiece

Yeah I know, I just wondered if there was a way to record with a headset/earbuds and get a good sounding recording because I'm not used to VO in the earpiece, especially when playing a game. Good thing this game doesn't necessarily require headphones.
