Any green thumbs here? (self.Blind)
submitted by nekoartistxxvi
Hi there! Is anyone here interested in gardening? What stuff do you like to do, or what do you enjoy about being outside?

I love building soil, and soil health. Tilling and feeling the crumpling soil. Harvesting the veggie, Everything but weeding

I used to love gardening. But not being able to see in an area populated with snakes, deadly spiders, toads, giant lizards, and alligators. Kind of paranoid of doing it. If I'm with someone sighted, maybe.

I'm partially sighted and I love to garden. I used to not enjoy it but over time it grew more appealing to me. I'd had lots of potted plants and even some outdoor flower pots and had developed somewhat of a green thumb, so a few years ago I built a raised garden bed but then didn't have enough money left to fill it with dirt! So then last year I completed the investment by finally filling it and planting seedlings, and it's been a wonderful hobby. I plant mostly vegetables and herbs but also some flowers to attract pollinators, and it brings me such joy. I certainly haven't mastered all the techniques, but it' nice to end up with some tomatoes, eggplants, basil, summer squash, cucumbers, etc. as they grow! I even like the maintenance side of it like weeding and pruning. It's so low pressure because whatever I do wrong I'll learn from and the stakes are low. Either I end up with veggies or I don't and have to buy them at the store - which I was doing my whole life anyway! I didn't plan to plant any flowers until I realized they're necessary for pollination, but they ended up being their own source of joy. Not that I don't like flowers in general, I just figured they would be a waste of otherwise good vegetable space, but I was wrong!

I love it but can’t seem to keep up with everything I plant and it dies. Facepalm
