How can I keep the illuminated keyboard on? HP Pavilion laptop (self.Blind)
submitted by OldManOnFire
After about ten seconds of not touching the keyboard it goes dark. I like the backlit keys. I can't really see which letter is on a particular key but when they're all backlit I can find home row.

F5 toggles the backlight on and off, but is there a way to disable the 10 second timer or change it to an hour?

If there's a better sub to post this question to please steer me there.

Thanks!

The bad news this will take someone else to help you do since its in the boot up screen on the laptop and needs a bit more I.T. help. I don't trust anyone without some good computer knowledge to touch the bios.

**If you could do it - follow this:**

1. Restart the computer and immediately press the F10 repeatedly until the BIOS opens.

1. Navigate to the Advanced tab. Use the arrow keys to navigate in the BIOS.

1. Use the down arrow key to highlight Built-in Device Options, and then press Enter.

1. Use the down arrow key in the Built-in Device Options to select Backlit keyboard timeout.

1. Press the spacebar to open the keyboard backlight settings. Select the desired setting for timeout of the backlighting.

1. Once finished press escape and save changes and you're done!

I have the same laptop :D

The BIOS screen doesn't have an advanced tab. I checked all the other tabs for a Built-in Device Options section but couldn't find one.

I could send you a pic of my BIOS screen if you think it will help.

The r/techhelp people were much less specific, and HP wants me to create an account (and sell my email address to some Nigerian prince) before I can ask there.

Help me Obi Wan KenRumster, you're my only hope =)

Only thing I found was this.

Sadly, your laptop might have the energy-saving always-on option.
