I live in the UK and would like to buy a tv.(self.Blind)
submitted by bradley22
Hi, I'm completely blind and would like to buy a tv, I was thinking of going with Sony but am unsure if that' the best for a blind person.

I'd like to have the guide read out to me, the channels too, and know if a show is audio described or not.

Speeding up and slowing down the speech would be nice too.

Can't speak to all the features but I do know that Samsung TV's have a voice over feature for assisting in using their menu's. I don't think there were any options to control speed, etc. though unfortunately.

Yeah; I'm thinking of going with a Sampsung tv.

Agreeing with Arinvar, Samsung is the one I know of (I've seen them show off the TV at an accessibility conferene). You may have other options besides Samsung but Samsung is certainly one of the major players

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking of going with.h

You have likely already seen the RNIB article on this but just in case: https://www.rnib.org.uk/sight-loss-advice/technology-and-useful-products/technology-resource-hub-latest-facts-tips-and-guides/accessible-televisions

Hi.
So we have a Samsung TV, and I like it. The screen reader is very good. LG also has a screen reader, and from what I hear it's pretty good. Haven't actually used it so can't say for sure.

hey, I'm not sure if you're from the UK but do you know if I got a bt box, or another box like that if the screen reader would read out the channels? Or is it just freeview channels?
rwbeardjr1 points1y ago
Hi. I'm in the states so I unfortunately don't know of those. If it did, that would be part of the box and not the TV.

I checked out the video, the AI sounds fascinating but then you find out that they’re using Alexa. Have you tried the tv?

I haven't tried it, but my friend said it's not bad
