Accessing magazine content for visual impaired (self.Blind)

I don't know how to add audio description - I am so sorry! I am looking for information on how to obtain audible magazines for my mom who is no longer able to read.

Which country?

No worry about audio description, we have computer software that does that for us.

Thank you! We are in United States.

Your state’s Department for the Blind will have access to a library with magazine options. It’s pretty cool, mine has The Economist for example so it’s not all blind-only magazines.

Thank you so much for your response. She isn't qualified as "blind", rather, she has Parkinson's and suffers from eye movement issues. I am trying to find any resources for magazines on tape or cd or available for download.

The talking libraries in each state are also open to people with physical disabilities that prevent people from reading standard books. https://loc.gov/nls

Although you've received good recommendations for audio editions of magazines, another possibility is to use hardware and/or software to read magazine pages.

The app VoiceDream Scanner, avaiable for iPhone and Android, can take a picture of a page and read the text aloud. It's possible to store multiple pages rather than have to lift the phone and take a photo after finishing one page.

There are also devices you can buy with cameras mounted overhead, built-in lighting, and software to run optical character recognition (OCR) on pages of text. This may be a better option if holding a phone would be difficult for your mom.

I had no idea!! Great option for her.

Most magazines can be read online. If the magazines your mom likes are online her computer can read them aloud to her. There are good software programs that you can download for free to do this.
