Tips for playing video games for the blind and visually impaired. (self.Blind)
submitted by BlindWizard
So me and my kid just downloaded ratchet and clank it’s a game I finally remember back when I had better vision. I can see light and color but my eye tires very quickly. Does anybody have any tips for being able to enjoy video games?

There are a number of video games meant for the blind that are completely accessible. Some of them are rather hard to find, but once you find them, they’re usually very good. I suggest you tubing accessible games. As for playing games made for sighted people, I tend to use sound to navigate. It’s certainly not as easy as using sight, but once I get used to it, it works.

Dont spend hours and hours, make sure the lighting is good and if possible modify the game to balance RGB, edit white/black balance or edit saturation, add filters or edit large UI (Iam partially blind and love Skyrim especially nodding)

My son and I used to play that together!

I don't have any tips for playing video games but your child will bond with you over this and remember you as a great parent.

This is your opportunity to teach by example how to win graciously, how to lose without rage quitting, and what respect for your opponent and good sportsmanship mean. Even though this might not be as enjoyable as it used to be for you anymore the stakes are higher now. Everything you've ever tried to teach your child about how to behave will either be reinforced or contradicted by your example.

Here's your chance to be a hero. You got this!

A great game to play with your kid could be Animal Crossing, which is also fairly blind friendly. Are you looking for specifically kid friendly games? Pokemon is also really accessible. I have a $1 where I try to cover all sorts of accessible/playable games.

Hi, everyone's condition is different. Could you tell me if when you say accessible, you mean that a totally blind person can play the game with no sighted assistance?
I love playing MK, but my family is tired of me calling them to request they read the menu. I'm trying to count the number of times I go up or downin the set up menu but that to me is not accessible.
