People with remaining sight, what colour text/background do you find easiest to read with on a screen in front of you?(self.Blind)

So I prefer white on a darker colour, either black or like a dark blue. I know some find it easier on other colours though. I'm currently working on a small project and just looking to see if I can find some of the more common colour scheme preferences. I think some common ones are black on white, black on yellow, yellow on blue, white on black. Thoughts?

I switch often between color schemes depends on how m vision is at the moment. I often use black background and yellow Tex if i need high contrast but it makes me tried so i swim text color to pumpkin orange, sky blue, muted lime green. Dark blue bg with yellow text causes my nystagmus go wild too high contrast.
If high contrast bother me i switch background color to dark grey and making text colors miuted it seems causing less eye strain for me.
I even used as my braille teacher said strangest color scheme she ever saw but i could work with it while having strong lights sensitivity I called it Morning French Lavender Fields it was only possible creating with Zoomtext by mixing two tones of lights violet and sky blue playing with contrast. Idk if it's achievable other ways i tried different programs bur couldn't get same effect. It was like tinted sunglasses.
At best are enabling custom settings.

I have RP, and I prefer white or another light-colored text on a black background. I haven't actually tried other dark colors, but definitely having the majority of the screen a darker scheme is helpful for me.

I prefer light text on a dark background. Specifically, Monokai Pro is my color scheme of choice.

Dark background white text lights off and a flash light or a lamp so i don't trip over something in the dark I also love to use greyscale with high contrast theme

The easiest for me to read is pale yellow on black background, second is light gray on black. White text is still too bright so my pupils close and then everything is dark.

Someone I know uses green text on a black background, one of the standard MS Windows high contrast colour schemes. They find a white background swamps their vision. The main drawback is that some screen items on some apps / web pages become black on a black black background so you are left struggling to find something like the "submit" button on a page. Using Alt-Shift-PrintScreen is occasionally used to switch between the High Contrast colour scheme.
Chrome and Teams are annoying because they ignore the MS Windows colour scheme. Teams has a high contrast colour scheme but it overuses a bright yellow for both highlighting important items and highlighting where the current focus is. This can make challenging finding the "join" meeting link.

I am not blind, but am a mother to a blind child (bilateral ONH), and I used many tips from the CVI communities (much more common than ONH, or at least resources geared toward this community are more easily found on the internet). I adapted anything and everything with their preferred color scheme in his baby/toddler years before we knew he was completely blind (little to no light perception), since I read most VI individuals prefer high contrast materials anyway. The most preferred colors in that community are red and/or yellow text/images (as well as white I believe, but I think that’s less preferred for CVI individuals) against a black background. This is at least what I’ve seen in research I’ve done and read about. Again, no personal experience here. And any users with CVI, please correct me if I’m wrong.
Edit with additional info: I do personally know another mom who has a child with CVI and she uses and prefers this color scheme as well; red and yellow on a black background.
