Computer science (self.Blind)

So, after a lot of decision-making and faffing about, I've decided I'm going full steam ahead on computer science. The only thing is, I'm wondering how I'm going to go about handling higher levels of math. I can do Algebra just fine with linear equations in a txt file with a Braille display, but will that work for Calculus? Trigonometry? Will I ever outpace my Orion TI-84? I've got a lot of questions, and I don't really know where to look for answers. I've heard of blind people getting CS degrees, but I've never heard about how they got through the math without vision.

I'll tutor you. DM me anytime.

The Orion Ti-84 will be fine for most of the coursework. Most Braille displays can handle Nemeth braille (8-dot) for symbols used in calculus. Trig (and Calculus) are both very understandable from a tactile point of view, and the actual calculation portion can be done with a scientific calculator.

I would personally recommend you start playing with the Python programming language. It has an interpretive (text) mode that is useful for debugging snippets of code but can also make a freakishly powerful screen-reader accessible calculator.

I’m definitely having the same problem but nowhere nearly as high as you level wise.

What helped for me was getting a tutor who was able to explain all the problems in a linear way for me to understand and break it down. It IS hard finding a tutor who takes blind students (not cheap either, she’s $50 an hour so only once every two weeks for me lol!)
