Somebody was looking for a hands free umbrella. Found a solution. (self.Blind)

I think us urban dwelling BVI folks probably walk more than the average person. And those of us that are cane users have probably cursed the weather more than once due to trying to juggle a cane, an umbrella and our phones for navigation so I wanted to share something I got because it’s genius and warm and waterproof. $1
I call it my bubble because it’s mostly clear PVC with a Sun shade over the head and weather resistant fabric that goes to mid thigh on me. I can sit down in it so I can wear it on the bus and the front and sides zip open if I need fresh air. There are arm holes that fit snugly around your arms to keep water out and are kind of overlapped so if your arms are inside, water can’t get in either. It works pretty good with a shoulder bag or crossbody, but does make carrying a backpack difficult due to using backpack style straps to keep it up over your head. I like it for rain, but I love it for cold windy days because my fingers don’t feel like they’re gonna fall off when I’m using my phone.

I also found this one which is more like a traditional umbrella, but it seems pretty narrow so I don’t know how well it would actually keep you dry. $1

The Walking Pod shows people in the country who are exposed to the elements for long periods. Wearing it in a city is going to attract a LOT of attention. The Nubrella seems very wide and bulky to be worn in settings around a number of other people.

LOL like being a blind person with a massive guide dog carrying a child on your back and wearing a watch that gives you verbal directions wouldn't atract attention?
Sorry, that phrase sounded very glib on a read-back. Thanks for the visual input. If I were out all day in a storm, though ...

Well, I was thinking of someone who navigated just with a cane. I did think the visual input would help. I'm not usually a very stylish dresser myself and almost always will choose practicality over vanity, but that pod is noticeable. It looks like the person is wearing his or her own little old-fashioned phone booth. If it were a really bad storm, I might consider it, but a good raincoat and rain hat with a broad brim seem more reasonable to me.

Lmfao at the first one are you serious? I can wear that if i want to get laughed at by strangers for looking stupid. Second one isn’t as bad but you know there are some great water proof jackets out there. Really $120 for the first one nah that more than enough for a quality jacket not this thing.

I use rubberized heavy duty twist ties and lash my umbrella handle to my backpack straps. Works for me.
I find the twist ties at outdoor stores.
