Any blind audio editors? (self.Blind)
submitted by Born-1995
I am a podcast editor. I use Audacity and Logic Pro. As of now I use the zoom feature, but my vision loss is progressive and I want to be able to continue to do my job. What is the best audio editing software that works well with a screen reader?

You can do everything in Logic.

Here's a channel that does all logic tutorials with VoiceOver: $1

There's a program called keyboard Maestro that a lot of blind producers and audio engineers use with either Logic or Pro Tools to make custom VoiceOver keyboard commands for each program. They're pretty accessible as is but this increases the workflow even more.

I can do simple stuff in Audacity but I wouldn't try to master a whole track or something. That's mainly because I don't personally have any need to and I've never practised it, though, not because I know any reason I couldn't. People do.

I edit audio for podcasts also, and I use logic pro. I use custom key commands and macros, and also a very fleshed out template that I built myself.

If you use logic pro you're in luck. It's really accessible, and audacity is reasonably as well. I tried audacity and it seems decent, but I can't speak much for logic other than what I've been told as I use reaper myself (which by the way is one of the best solutions you're gonna get on windows IMO)

Reaper is hands down the best option on windows. I honest to god have 0 complaints. Just note that it's made accessable through an extension called OSARA but don't worry, it's super easy to install.

also, reaper works extremely well, with the Mac also using a Sara, and an extension called SWS. Both on windows, and Mac repair, logic pro, and Pro Tools, the ladder to logic and Pro Tools are only really accessible on the Mac side, but reaper, is cross platform.

You can use Audacity on Windows pretty well. There’s JAWS scripts that make it easier. However, it isn’t accessible on Mac. You can use Logic still with VoiceOver, but I’m unfamiliar with it, as well as Reaper (which you may have to use to edit podcasts on Mac).
