I want to get into sewing but I have very low vision. My main struggle is threading the needle. I can't see the hole in the needle, or where exactly the thread ends. Does anyone have any good solutions with threading needles and sewing in general?

There’s a YouTube channel, unsightly Opinions, with a woman who sees. She’s got a video on using a needle threader made for blind and low vision people.

I’ve been sewing since before I went blind, and I learned to thread a needle by rubbing it against the thread in the palm of my hand until it goes in

Careful with this idea. Its potential for damage is immeasurable.
Put the end of the needle hole up to your lips. Pucker your lips almost in a whistle fashion. Suck the thread through. Dont need to do it hard. Might take a try or two but this is my method I use for fishing hooks and I reckon it will do the job.

You need a needle threader!

You could try self-threading sewing needles and sewing machine needles, both available on Amazon. They have a slit to slide the thread into, which can be done through feel.

Not blind and haven’t tried them myself, but I’ve seen needle threading devices that automatically thread a needle. Maybe someone else can vouch for the Hexe (or witch) device?
