Perkins Brailler Recommendations (self.Blind)
submitted by TheBlindBookLover
Hi everyone. I am interested in purchasing a Perkins Brailler. Do any of you have recommendations for a potential brailler to purchase or know of braillers to stay away from? I saw a refurbished brailler on braillebookstore.com. Have any of you purchased a referbished brailler from this store? If so, how well did the brailler work? Thank you to anyone who responds.

I don't have experience of this store per se, but a well-oiled and maintained Perkins can last for decades. I was using one this morning that I have been working on for 30 years.

Wow. Now that is the definition of building things to last.

My meta has one of these. It’s older than hell and still works beautifully. They’re sturdy, well-built devices that really last…hence the large price tag. His Perkins Brailler was gifted to him so we didn’t do much research on brands, sadly. Wish I could help you there.

I can’t speak to the refurbished Perkins directly, but I have used the braille bookstore for other items and they are a quality and well reputed retailer. If they say it’s refurbished, I would assume it’ll be good for you. Their customer service is wonderful. If you have any doubts, maybe check with their customer service and see if there is any kind of warranty on the brailler.
