What's the best watch for the blind and visually impaired? (self.Blind)
submitted by BlindWizard
I am looking to get a watch to wear while working. I am a massage therapist and I need a way to read my time in a way that is not going to disturb my client such as having a watch speak to me or my phone. Tell me the time. I need to watch you can feel. I remember when I was a kid they had to watches where the glass would flip up and you could feel the hands but those are finicky I remember and you would accidentally change the time all the time. I remember hearing about a watch that uses like magnets and ball bearings? Anyways, what is the best watch and why? And if you have links that would be awesome. Thank you all for your feedback.

The magnetic one with the ball bearings is the Bradley watch, by eone.

It can be pricey compared to braille watches. Some of my clients like it, but not everyone.

I tried one of those on, but they are enormous. I'm not a large human being. I'm five one and slim, if I stand still in someone's garden they are likely to be complimented on the realistic gnome. The watch was just enormous on my wrist. I really wish there was something, anything that wasn't just a huge clunky thing, especially for girls.

I don't often feel the need to self consciously represent but it would be nice to be able to go to meetings and be able to at least slightly keep up with the money people in their expensive gear. I don't care if they recognise what it is, I just care it doesn't come off as conspicuously awful, and there isn't really anything available as far as I can tell.

One,more recommendation on the Bradley. We checked those out in my,Techniques class, they are slick! I’d wear one and I can still read a watch face by sight.

Yep. This is the one I would recommend as well.

I wear a braille watch, but it does require a light touch.

Yes the Bradley is the coolest analog watch IMO but the Apple Watch can also do taptic time where it buzzes the time to you silently

You can use an Apple Watch. You can double tap the screen and it will vibrate the time to you. I use it a bunch.

Is this to keep track of session time? I used a vibrating timer I would wear on my hip set to half an hour as I offered half and hour and hour long sessions. It worked a charm. Can't recall where I got it.

The apple watch with speech off would also work as you can tap it to get it to vibrate the time. This is a pricy option though. Haven't used anything else myself. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
