MaxTVs (https://www.eschenbach.com/products/telescopes-galilean-maxtv.asp) can be useful for some people to watch TV and some other things at a distance.
Depending on where you are, your client should check into a low vision clinic as well. In my area, the provincial government helps to fund for some devices.
A CCTV like an Acrobat (https://www.enhancedvision.com/low-vision-product-line.html#acrobat) can be useful to see things further away. There are portable versions, but they have smaller screens. That particular design for the CCTV can be used for things further away (such as a blackboard), but the camera could also be switched to aim at something closer (I have a client who uses it for painting their nails).

Something else to consider - some newer TVs have a "blind feedback" mode under accessibility options in the setup - where it reads to you the current channel, echos back the buttons you push, etc.
