None that are worth mentioning, if the built-in windows or mac magnifiers aren't suitable for you.

Zoomtext has a "home license" option if you are in the US for $85/year if that helps.

Do you qualify for vocational rehab services that might pay for this? Or could you potentially get it through your employer?

Why is the software so damn expensive?

Yes I had it on the laptop I got from my rehab but I had to send it back since I moved states and didn't Perdue schooling

Where are you now? We may be able to identify a state or county program that can assist you?

My son just received a brand new ipad from the State of California with assistive software.

California blows.

The magnifier in Windows has spent years being mediocre at best but with Windows 10 has finally gotten to the point where about 50% of my clients that would have needed ZoomText can get by with the built-in one for free.

Some people like SuperNova as an alternative to ZoomText. Pretty much feature-same, it feels a little less of a resource pig than ZoomText. If you don’t need the screen reader stuff, just the magnifier, SuperNova is around $400. Still pricey.

Seriously. Just stick with the Windows 10 magnifier.

I made an auto hotkey script that turns on the "insertion point follow" feature on or off on the fly. Let me know if you want it.

And don't upgrade to Windows 11 anytime soon, do yourself a favor.

If you just need magnification, the in-built Windows 10 magnifier is good (in fact, it plays nice with more programs because it’s built into the OS). If you need zoomtext’s other features, unfortunately, I don’t know that there is a free equivalent.

Windows Magnifier is what I use, also built-in colour filters in Windows for inverted colours.

What specific features do you need?
