At-home or remote jobs for the visually impaired? [USA - KS] (self.Blind)
submitted by blazblu82
I'm hoping I won't need to job hunt, but in case things go south at my current job, I may need to.

What jobs are available I can do from home? I have PC and internet access, have some coding experience (3 years USPS remote encoding) and all around good with computers. Anything that would pay in the neighborhood of $18 an hour with health insurance and other benefits?

TIA!

I would check the Afb.org website and see if they have any openings, I know they are always looking for coders and they tend to hire people with visual impairments first.

I've looked over their website, but I can't seem to find anything about employment. It just talks about the things they can do help blind or low-vision people. I didn't find anything directly linking to employment opportunities.

Thanks!

I find little on their windage too.

Not exactly what you asked for, but if you are under 35 Perkins just launched a career development program that might be interesting: $1

Thanks! Although, not sure who designed their website, but half of isn't readable with the white text on bright green background.

There is a vision rehab center (Envision) in my area who offers employment, just nothing I can do from home.

Currently being re-designed. We should go live during the beginning of January with the new look. Thank you for your feedback.

The Blind Institute Of Technology is a nonprofit that finds jobs for the BVI community. We also have the BIT Academy where we provide various free Workshops and courses for free to our community. The next Salesforce Admin class starts in January and registrations close on December 31st. Since we also provide Salesforce services to other nonprofits, our best students have a chance to get real-life project experience in the form of apprenticeships, and these are paid. So, you get project experience which can be a major problem when looking for a new job, and also get paid for your work as an apprentice.

In 2022 we are expanding our academy with other courses, so if you want to stay up to date you can sign up to our monthly newsletter: https://blindinstituteoftechnology.us14.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=6f243e2d6868b7eb7e6ec39f3&id=04fcdfe66c
