The cones and rods in your eyes see colors in certain combos. That's why when you see one color brightly, you will see an after image in a different color (thanks Dr. Dickson from Psych 101 back in the day!). I'm not sure if they can be overloaded or damaged, but that's what it sounds like. Have you seen a neuro-ophthalmologist regarding this issue?

No but my last eye doc recommended a neuro opthamologist.
Can a neuro opthamologist do something about it?

The first step is to figure out what is wrong and then develop a treatment plan. An ophthalmologist would be a better bet than an optometrist. They are medical doctors that specialize in disease and dysfunction of the optic system.

Sorry I don’t have an answer to your question but I do have a question for you. Did you go somewhere for the red light therapy or did you buy something online to do it yourself? I’ve been looking to buy something off of Amazon but everything on there seems to be the wrong wavelength.
