An app to detect text in images? (self.Blind)
submitted by Nightfall90z
Is there an iOS app that is able to detect text in images?
I’ve got a bunch of images on my phone, they include text. I want to know what the text says.

Make sure you have Image Descriptions turned on in your VoiceOver recognition settings. If the text is clear, just focusing on the image will have VO try to read a description of the image including any text it sees. Make sure Describe Images is turned on in the app you are in by toggling it in the VO rotor. This only works if you have an iPhone SE 2, iPhone 11 or later.

VoiceOver does it in the new iOS!

Yeah, the latest iOS update allows you to find text in a photo, image, or live from the camera without even taking a photo. There is a button on the lower right above the camera rotate button.

If you go to the image in the photos app (or in whatever app you have it in), select share, there should be an option to recognize with seeing AI.

It keeps saying photo analysis failed.
Do you know of any other app?

You are on iOS. IOS 15 introduced liveText which does this right in the camera app

Google lookout is friggan amazing, but only detects text, barcodes, and people.

I looked it up on the app store but did not find it.

Interesting. Must not be on iPhone? It's my favorite app and saves me lots of time and allows me to read all my mail and everything quickly. Also especially helps in the kitchen when looking for specific spices and things like that. I'm not too familiar with iPhone stuff

Check Envision AI. I use that app for this. Click share on the image and select the envision it option.
